Sew a Love Monster

Family Arts Programme (Feb 2019)

11am-3pm

 

Join Laura from Colourful Minds to make a felt love monster! This event is part of the Global Kids Sewing Party, which encourages children to sew for others! You have the option to donate your finished love monster back to us and we will distribute them to vulnerable local families.

 

Plus affordable snacks, lunches and homemade cakes and a range of child-friendly options from our in-house community cafe The Cog Cafe.

 

 £2.50 per child in advance or £3 per child on the door. Ticket holders can arrive any time between 11am-3pm to get involved.

 

We strongly advise you book in advance as we cannot guarantee there will still be tickets available on the day.

Paddleboat Theatre Company return to Creative Workspace with their award-winning family show 'Margo & Mr Whatsit'.

 

Do you have an imaginary friend? A little piece of mischief only you can see? Sophia’s imaginary friend is called Mr. Whatsit. No matter where Sophia finds herself living, he’s always there with a new joke to tell and a new game to play.

 

But when Sophia moves into her new foster home, Mr Whatsit finds himself unimagined! Now Sophia has a new imaginary friend – the glamorous, grown-up Margo.

 

Can Mr. Whatsit’s childish playfulness keep him from being unimagined for good? And with her imaginary friends competing against each other, will Sophia manage to find her forever home?

 

PaddleBoat Theatre Company present an interactive make-believe tale where the real and imaginary collide, and friends are never far away.

 

Doors 11am. Performance 11.30-12.20 plus a free post-show family drama workshop after lunch.

Affordable snacks, lunches and homemade cakes and a range of child-friendly options available from our in-house community cafe The Cog Cafe.

10.30am-3.30pm 

 

 A drop-off event for children aged 8+ who would like to spend the day learning a range of circus skills and who are brave enough to showcase what they've learned to their family and friends at the end of the day.


Drop off between 10-10.30am with a packed lunch. The showcase will begin at 3pm (and run probably until around 3.30pm).

 

Our in-house community cafe The Cog Cafe will be serving drinks, snacks and home-made cakes.

 

£5 per child.

A Pay What You Can Family Fun Day event invites you to celebrate the Chinese New Year!

 

Expect crafts, live music, face-painting, games and more to help you welcome in the Year Of The Pig!

 

Please note in order to be guaranteed admission to this event you need to book everyone in your group a ticket Once you have booked a ticket you can turn up at any time between 11am-3pm.

 

Make your donation on a pay-what-you-can basis when you arrive, during your visit or before you leave.

 

Pay-what-you-can means just that. Any amount, however small, is completely acceptable.

Watch a film in the morning about the wonderful world of chocolate. Stay for a no-bake chocolate workshop in the afternoon!

 

The film is rated PG and runs for 1hr 55 minutes. Children need to be accompanied when watching the film, but you only need to pay for children's tickets. Adults watch for free!

 

You can book for just the film or just for the workshop, or both! Doors open 10am. The film starts promptly at 10.30am. The workshop runs from 1-3pm.

 

We strongly advise you to book tickets in advance whether you're coming to the film and/or the workshop, as we do have a limit to the number of spaces available and if you leave it until the day we cannot guarantee there will be spaces available.

led by Alice Lamb, resident theatre-maker at Creative Workspace

 

Theatre maker Alice Lamb is resident at Creative Workspace in January developing a new show about women in their 40s. This Arts Council funded residency allows Alice not only to rehearse her work but also to run outreach workshops for the community.

 

This is a chance to relax, play, explore, write and share whatever you're comfortable sharing in a women-only, judgement-free environment.

Dance for the Over 55s

Every Tuesday, 1-2pm from 15th Jan - 26th March 2019

led by Julia Thorneycroft Dance

 

A fun, friendly dance class for the over 55s led by Julia Thorneycroft Dance to get you moving, thinking and laughing! Plus the chance to work towards performing in the Full Bloom Dance festival, a celebration of older people's dance.

 

No previous dance skills necessary. Men and women welcome.

Classes are £3 per week (pay on the door). First session on 15th Jan 2019 a FREE TASTER.

Mothers in their 40s: tell your story

led by Alice Lamb, resident theatre-maker at Creative Workspace

 

Theatre maker Alice Lamb is resident at Creative Workspace in January developing a new show about women in their 40s. This Arts Council funded residency allows Alice not only to rehearse her work but also to run outreach workshops for the community.

 

This is a chance to relax, play, explore, write and share whatever you're comfortable sharing in a women-only, judgement-free environment. We can provide toys and activities for pre-school children in the rehearsal space and also in the adjacent room, but please note this we regret this is not a creche facility, so if you wish to leave your child in the adjacent room please bring a second person along to accompany your child whilst you're in the workshop.
